Montesquieu – Philosoph und Dichter
Am 26. März 2017 um 15.00 Uhr wird im Literaturcafé am Sonntag Nachmittag der Philosoph und Dichter Montesquieu vorgestellt. Jürgen Simon wird erläutern, worin die damalige und heutige Bedeutung dieses Repräsentanten der französischen Aufklärung liegt. Die Veranstaltung findet im Zentrum für Friedenskultur (ZFK), Kölner Str. 11, Siegen-Oberstadt statt.
Charles de Secondat, Baron de Montesquieu (1689 – 1755), neben Voltaire, Diderot und Rousseau der Repräsentant der französischen Aufklärung, war Parlamentspräsident, Akademie-Direktor und Mitglied der „Akademie francaise“. Er lebte auf seinem Schloss bei Bordeaux und viele Monate des Jahres in Paris. Dort war er Mittelpunkt der berühmten literarischen intellektuellen Salons.
Weltruhm erlangte er 1721 mit den „Persischen Briefen“: fiktive, faszinierende Harems-Geschichten, in denen er scharfe Kritik am französischen Staat mit Witz und sprachlicher Eleganz übte.
Auf einer dreijährigen Reise durch Europa sammelte er Stoff für sein Hauptwerk „Vom Geist der Gesetze“. Seine „Klima-Theorie“ darin fand große Aufmerksamkeit, und sein Modell der Gewaltenteilung wurde zum Vorbild für die französische und amerikanische Verfassung.
Die Literaturreihe unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Popp steht in diesem Jahr unter dem Motto „Vergessene Autorinnen und Autoren in Ost und West“. Info: 0271-20596, www.friedenspaedagogen.de
